Announces Christine King as New Board Member
SANTA
CLARA, Calif., April 8, 2008 — Atheros
Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATHR), a leading developer
of advanced wireless and wired solutions, today
announced that Christine King has joined Atheros’ board
of directors. With her addition, the
board of directors now consists of seven members.
Through her 35 years of semiconductor industry
experience, she has provided exceptional leadership and
vision that has driven significant growth of companies
in the semiconductor market.
In addition to her new appointment
with Atheros, King serves on the boards of directors of
the Idaho Power Company and ON Semiconductor, a global
leader in efficient power solutions, which recently
merged with AMI Semiconductor. Prior to the merger, she
served as chief executive officer at AMI Semiconductor.
During her tenure there, she transformed the company
from a predominantly digital field programmable gate
array (FPGA) conversion services provider to a global
leader in custom analog/mixed signal products, taking
AMI from $280 million in annual revenue to over $600
million in six years. Prior to AMI, King was vice
president of semiconductor products at IBM Corporation
where she played a significant role in transforming IBM
Microelectronics into a leader in the semiconductor
industry. Under her leadership, IBM’s networking
semiconductor businesses grew to $1 billion in revenue –
a success that is the subject of a Harvard Business Case
Study.
“Atheros is excited to welcome
Christine King to our board of directors,” said Craig
Barratt, president and chief executive officer of
Atheros. “Given her extraordinary track record, I’m
confident that Christine will provide invaluable
